Iron (III) chloride (FeCl3)

Iron (III) chloride is a mild oxidizing agent and participates in various carbon-bond forming reactions. On crystallization with water, it forms hydrates. It can be prepared by reacting chlorine with the scrap iron at approximately 650°C.
